Session 1 Elementary Graph Theory and Matrix Algebra
Steve Borgatti, Rich DeJordy and Dan Halgin

This is a 1-day session for those who would like to brush up on the mathematics underlying social network analysis. No prior knowledge of math is assumed, nor is this workshop a  pre-requisite for the others. UCINET and Microsoft Excel software are used for calculations...more

Session 2a Introduction to Social Network Analysis

This is a 3-day workshop that introduces participants to the theory and methods of social network analysis. Participants are trained in the UCINET and NETDRAW software programs... more

Session 2b Advanced Social Network Analysis
Steve Borgatti

This is a 3-day workshop for participants who already have some experience with network analysis, but would like to learn (a) much more about UCINET and NETDRAW (including powerful undocumented features), (b) understand the details behind such measures as Bonacich Power (and the related Katz and Hubbell measures), and (c) tackle thorny analysis issues, such as missing data, working with large datasets, and translating research questions to analysis procedures. Additional topics will be solicited from participants. ...more

Session 3 Organizational Network Research
Dan Brass, Ajay Mehra

This will be a one day workshop that will focus on how the methods and concepts of network analysis can be used to advance organizational research and consulting. In particular, the workshop will: a) draw on classic and current network research to clearly identify what network reasoning consists of and what makes it different from other theoretical approaches in organizational studies; b) discuss a range of prospects and problems in contemporary organizational network research; and c) offer practical guidance on how to strengthen research design and frame network research for top organizational journals.

Costs

The basic cost for the workshop is $1,000. However, students pay only half price.

Please note that the cost is the same no matter how many or how few sessions you attend. See also the costs page. If you register but then decide not to come, you may get a full refund if you contact us before the first day of the workshop. See our refund policy for more information.
